AI Seal

AI Seal was developed by the NEXT Lab at Zhejiang University to create a one-stop AI-assisted seal creation system. We collected a large number of seal-engraving images from ancient documents and processed them using neural networks for character completion and parametric font reconstruction. The whole system supports:
- Seal font selection
- Character input
- Layout adjustment
- Texture generation
- Real-world seal carving (available only in mainland China).
The manuscript of our work Automated Chinese Seal Carving Art Creation with AI Assistance has been published on 2020 IEEE Conference on Multimedia Information Processing and Retrieval (MIPR), in which I am the second student author. This work has also been written as two granted Chinese patent: Method and system for dynamically adjusting parameters and designing Chinese character patterns and layouts (动态调整参数的汉字字形与布局设计方法和系统) and Seal cutting work customized design generating device for generating countermeasure network (一种利用生成对抗网络的篆刻作品定制化设计生成装置), in which I am the second author. Furthermore, our work has been applied in the production of commemorative seals for Zhejiang University undergraduate graduates in 2020.
My primary contributions include:
- Raw data acquisition and restoration from ancient documents
- Development of a polynomial parameterized font model.
- Training a generative adversarial network model for styled image generation of Chinese characters
- Cooperating in design a seal engraving platform that allows users to produce a personalized real-world seal within 20 minutes
